Indian indices opened higher on September 4 with Nifty above 19,500.
The Sensex was up 191.96 points or 0.29 percent at 65,579.12, and the Nifty was up 71.70 points or 0.37 percent at 19,507. About 1839 shares advanced, 478 shares declined, and 134 shares unchanged.
Tata Steel, L&T, Eicher Motors, Adani Ports and Hindalco Industries were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Britannia Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Axis Bank.
