Copper yesterday settled down by 0.05% at 731.4 as prices were boosted by a potential demand uplift from support for China’s yuan currency and seasonal strength in consumption. Investors are now shifting their focus to September and October, traditionally strong consumption months for copper in China. Copper inventories in warehouses monitored by the Shanghai Futures Exchange rose 3.5% from last Friday. The global refined copper market swung to a surplus of 213,000 metric tons in the first six months of 2023 from a 196,000-ton deficit in the same period last year, the International Copper Study Group (ICSG) said.
