Indian indices opened higher on May 18 with Nifty around 18,250 on the back of positive global markets.
The Sensex was up 278.37 points or 0.45 percent at 61,839.01, and the Nifty was up 81.20 points or 0.45 percent at 18,263.00. About 1,556 shares advanced, 434 declined, and 104 were unchanged.
JSW Steel, Hero MotoCorp, HDFC Life, Axis Bank and Infosys were among the major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Divis Labs, BPCL, Titan Company, M&M and ONGC.

निफ्टी पर जेएसडब्ल्यू स्टील, हीरो मोटोकॉर्प, एचडीएफसी लाइफ, एक्सिस बैंक और इंफोसिस प्रमुख लाभ में थे, जबकि हारने वालों में डिविस लैब्स, बीपीसीएल, टाइटन कंपनी, एमएंडएम और ओएनजीसी थे।
