Benchmark indices ended marginally higher in a volatile session on April 20.
At close, the Sensex was up 64.55 points or 0.11 percentat 59,632.35, and the Nifty was up 5.70 points or 0.03percentat 17,624.50. About 1,853 shares advanced, 1,549 shares declined, and 129 shares were unchanged.
NTPC, Adani Ports, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto and Asian Paints were among the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Divis Labs, Eicher Motors, HUL, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and JSW Steel.
Among sectors, the pharma index was down 1 percent and realty index fell 0.5 percent, while buying was seen in the capital goods, power, infra and banking names.
The BSE midcap and smallcap indices ended on a flat note.

करीब, सेंसेक्स 64.55 अंक या 0.11 प्रतिशत बढ़कर 59,632.35 पर और निफ्टी 5.70 अंक या 0.03 प्रतिशत बढ़कर 17,624.50 पर था। लगभग 1,853 शेयरों में तेजी आई, 1,549 शेयरों में गिरावट आई और 129 शेयरों में कोई बदलाव नहीं हुआ।
निफ्टी पर एनटीपीसी, अडानी पोर्ट्स, टाटा मोटर्स, बजाज ऑटो और एशियन पेंट्स टॉप गेनर्स में से थे, जबकि हारने वालों में डिविस लैब्स, आयशर मोटर्स, एचयूएल, डॉ रेड्डीज लैबोरेटरीज और जेएसडब्ल्यू स्टील थे।
सेक्टरों में फार्मा इंडेक्स में 1 फीसदी और रियल्टी इंडेक्स में 0.5 फीसदी की गिरावट दर्ज की गई, जबकि कैपिटल गुड्स, पावर, इंफ्रा और बैंकिंग नामों में खरीदारी देखी गई।
बीएसई के मिडकैप और स्मॉलकैप सूचकांक सपाट नोट पर बंद हुए।
